English in and outside class
Learning a new language can be a difficult and frustrating experience. Yet, learning a new language does not have to be a difficult and frustrating experience.
The course we offer is going to last only a week (5 days) and it is funny and nonthreatening. These lessons take away the pressure of having to speak in front of a class full of people.
Lessons are delivered at SIH, and at a public place (like a cafe, museum, supermarket). Lessons also include field trips to truly practice and learn English outside the classroom.
Teaching Methods. Different methods work for different people. In general, we use a combination of book work and "real life" object oriented learning. In object oriented learning we examine magazines, photos, and objects, and communicate about them. After first introductory lesson we we go on "field trips" to examine the world outside through the English language. We can work on vocabulary (learning a set number of words per visit), grammar, pronunciation, and other elements of sentence structure. Classes can also be tailored to an individual's tastes. Suggested topics: 1. Food and drinks. At the cafė. 2. Clothes and shopping. Field trip to the men‘s wear or women‘s wear shops. 3. Places of interest. Giving directions. Field trip to the Old town. 4. Art and architecture. Field trip to the museum The duration of the course 5 days. Each lesson lasts 3 full hours. Total:15 hours.
