   Teacher Training Programs

  • (IHCTL) International House Certificate in Teaching Language Course / CELTA


SIH has been organising CELTA, TESOL, and IHCTL Certificate courses since 1998, and since 2003, SIH has been approved by IH World Organisation Affiliate Network as one of IH Teacher Training Centers.

These intensive 4 week courses are primarily aimed at teachers with BA degree in English language, whose first language is not English and who have little or no experience in teaching. They are also useful for those more experienced teachers who are willing to systemize their knowledge in teaching and obtain an internationally recognized qualification. These courses provide much practical knowledge on how to develop students‘ skills, manage class, plan lessons and respond to different teaching/learning situations. They are made of two parts: firstly workshops and seminars, and secondly, supervised teaching practice where the participants of the course can use their teaching knowledge in real situations in the classroom.   • (IHCTYL) International House Certificate in Teaching Young Learners


Soros International House offers a new International House Certificate in  Teaching Young Learners   for Secondary school teachers. This 2 week course is aimed at English language teachers who work with children and teenagers aged 10-15. The course concentrates on: providing a wide selection of practical teaching ideas, helping participants to become more confident in their own use of English, exploring the differences between teaching younger learners and adults, examining the differences between teaching children (10-12) years and teenagers, considering ways of adapting communicative methodology to suit the needs of young learners, evaluating and devising a range of materials for this age of group. After the trainees compete the course successfully, they will be aworded International House Certificate in Teaching Young Learners.

IHCTL Certificate Course was organized on July 31 - August 11, 2006 in Vilnius.

The price of the course - 799 Lt

The course participants should submit the following documents:

  1. CV in English;
  2. Passport copy;
  3. University Diploma copy;
  4. Write an essay (100 words) to reason why you would like to take the YL course;
  5. Give the names and contacts of two or three referees;
  6. Fill in the registration form.

  The interview  with the candidates will be conducted within 2 weeks after registration

SIH also organizes:
  • Summer schools for English Language teachers non-specialists and for English Language teachers specialists
  • Teacher training seminars in Vilnius and other places
  • Conferences organised together with the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science, the Lithuanian Association of Adult Education, the British Council or Vilnius Goethe Institut and their purpose is to discuss the main changes in language learning in Lithuania.
